Lace Wear Volume Two - Pattern No 1

There's a discount on patterns and yarn at the end of the post.

The Lace Wear Volume One collection was something I've been wanting to do for years. I'm always being told by knitters that they would love to knit a lace shawl but don't wear them or they have too many already. So I wanted to use shawl shapes as inspiration for easy to wear lace garments. Lace Wear Volume One has been a big success and as soon as I'd finished the six garments included, I had ideas for more designs. So I've decided to create the Lace Wear Volume TWO Collection.

This collection will work the same way as the Volume One collection did. I will release patterns regularly during the autumn and winter. The price for the collection starts low but will increase each time a new pattern is released. Whenever you purchase the collection, you will receive the patterns that have already been released plus the new patterns as they are released.

Yesterday I released the first pattern in the collection, Caldera. At the moment the Lace Wear Volume Two collection is £7 (plus your local VAT rate if if you live in an EU country). The second pattern will be released in September and the price will then increase to £9. The full price for all six patterns will be £15.

So let's talk about Caldera. I started knitting Caldera when we went on our cruise in July. For the first few days I was plugging along but wasn't really that enthusiastic about the design. Then we sailed into the Greek island of Santorini. Santorini is a volcanic island and the bay were our ship moored was created by a volcanic eruption. The crater created by a volcanic eruption is called a caldera.

Views from Santorini below. The biggest ship is our cruise ship.

I was sitting in our cabin window after exploring Santorini, which is stunning, and I looked down at my knitting and then out through the window at the charcoal cliffs of Santorini and inspiration struck immediately. The yarn I was knitting with reminded me of what I saw out of my window. The dark volcanic stone, the blue sea. I immediately got excited about finishing this shawl.

Caldera is a shawl which can easily be converted to a shrug by attaching two buttons to the bottom of the two 'spines'. I've worn it a few times already and I love wearing it. Caldera was knitted in Caterpillargreen MCN Fingering Shawl Striping in the colour Skyline. You can knit Caldera in any sock/4ply/fingering weight yarn and you will need 170g (550m/600yds).

Caldera is available as part of the Lace Wear Volume Two collection and if you purchase the collection now, you will be able to download this pattern immediately and you will get the remaining patterns as soon as they're released.

Caldera is also available individually and is 25% off until 2 September. No coupon code needed.

I'm also running another offer at the moment. Until Monday 29 August 2016, use code: SM25 to get 30% off any patterns from my Ravelry Pattern Shop or 15% off any order from the YarnAddict Web Shop (same code for both sites).
