Unravel 2017

Unravel was fantastic! It was very busy, especially on Saturday. Apparently the number of visitors on Saturday was the highest on a single day in the show's history which is amazing!

We arrived at the venue on Thursday afternoon and started setting up our stand. It's so hard to work out how to make it look lovely and inviting when all you have is a wall and three tables.

I enjoy doing shows and my favourite part is chatting to knitters. Thank you to all of you who bought from us and came by for a chat. I love seeing returning customers and many new customers. I also got to meet some ladies who follow me on Instagram or Facebook for the first time. Some of you were wearing shawls you've knitted from my patterns and I'm so sorry I forgot to take photos. But I love seeing what you make from my patterns so don't be shy about showing me or saying hello.

It's fun getting to know other vendors too. I didn't know any of the ladies who had the stands either side and opposite us so it was nice to get to chat to them a bit too. I also try to get around the show to say hello to some other vendors I know.

Below is a photo of the great hall taken from Unravel's Instagram account which shows how busy the Great Hall was an hour after opening on Saturday. This wasn't the room we were in but we were equally busy.

There were lovely decorations around the venue and outside the venue I found this lovely yarn bombing.

There was a bird theme this year and the entrance and around the venue there were knitted and crocheted birds dotted around.

I did manage a quick look around before the show on Sunday and in the last few minutes before closing on Sunday. I came home with some treats. I always stock up on buttons from The Textile Garden, I got a skein of a beautiful linen/alpaca/silk blend from Snail Yarn (the bottom lighter pink skein) and I got two bright skeins from Debonnaire which I will combine in a design. I first met Anette form Pink Hazel Bags at last year's Unravel. Since then we've both become members of Makelight community so it was lovely to meet her again and have a very quick chat. I treated myself to one of her gorgeous bags.

As you can see I put my new project bag straight to work. The needle gauge ruler was given to me by the lovely Imogen from Fig Tree Yarns. Imogen stocks beautiful American yarns and she has some beautiful knitting notions too. I fell in love with her needle gauges. You'll be seeing more of this one by Retromantic Fripperies in future photos.
