Knitter Focus - Felicia's Aria

I love seeing what knitters knit from my patterns and so many of you share beautiful photos of your creations on social media and in my Facebook group so I've decided to start a new blog series called Knitter Focus. In each Knitter Focus I'll feature one knitter and one item he or she has knitted from my patterns.

We're starting with Felicia who's knitted several of my patterns and they're all beautiful. I was struck with Felicia's Aria when she posted in my Facebook group  and on Instagram.

What's your name and where are you from?
  • My name is Felicia Di Bono and I’m from Italy.
You can find Felicia on Instagram and Ravelry.

Why did you choose to knit this pattern?
  •  I fell in love with this pattern the moment I saw it (just like with your ‘Peaceful’ shawl), it’s the combination of lace, beads and shape, I LOVE knitting with beads and I love lace.
Which yarn did you use?
  • I used the ‘Rial Baby Supremo’, it’s a fingering weight 100% merino (200m/50g), thicker than the one you chose for the original shawl as I do not love working with lace weight yarn, I prefer fingering or light fingering.
Did you make any modifications to the pattern?
  •  Yes, I worked chart A 3 times instead of 4 because I was afraid that the shawl would be too big, due to the different yarn weight (I love big shawls but I was afraid it would be too much).
What did you enjoy the most about knitting Aria?
  • Working with lace and beads together.
What did you find most challenging about this pattern?
  • The very long rows towards the end.
What did you learn from knitting this pattern?
  •  a) working daisy chains (it was the first time ever!)
  • b) that a crescent-shaped shawl can have a perfect shape without having to start with a garter tab cast on.

Thank you Felicia for taking part in our first Knitter Focus. I'm sure you all want to knit Aria now, so I'd like to offer all my readers 20% off Aria until the end of September 2017. Use coupon code: KFaria. You can purchase the pattern here.

I knitted Aria in Schoppel Laceball 100 (although Laceball works just as well). The pattern takes just one ball but as you can see from Felicia's Aria, a thicker yarn works just as well.

If you'd like to take part in the Knitter Focus, you need to have knitted one of my pattern from either one of my self-published patterns, a pattern from my book or one of my patterns from a magazine. You'll need to take some clear photos of the pattern - two or three photos are ideal. E-mail me on yarnaddictcs@gmail.com and put 'Knitter Focus' in the subject line. Tell me which pattern you knitted and attach a photo and I'll e-mail you back some questions. As a thank you, you get a coupon code for a free pdf pattern.
